James has a lot of experience successfully taking early stage ventures through to successful exits, including dealing with the inevitable strategic, HR and funding challenges along the way. James’ career has been an unusual one starting as a suit-wearing lawyer in the City, before working on international acquisitions and disposals for a UK utility and then, over the last twenty years, focussing on growing earlier stage ventures.
Casting a sometimes fairly blunt light on what challenges a business might face, James has considerable experience of international growth (including marketing) particularly in the USA where he has previously established a strong client base from scratch. Having taken his own businesses through multiple funding rounds, James also has a deep knowledge of the angel-funding sector for smaller businesses. He is perhaps at his happiest though when discussing how a business might best overcome strategic and growth challenges.
